As a Certified Gentle Sleep Coach I specialize in more supportive, responsive sleep solutions.
My flexible way of approaching sleep coaching allows me to meet each family where they are at. I work with each family to come up with a customized, supportive sleep solution where your child learns to sleep better, longer and more soundly all while feeling loved and reassured & you (parents/caregivers) feel supported and empowered during the process.
Some tears are inevitable during the sleep coaching process as crying is a way for babies and toddlers to communicate to us how they are feeling since they do not always have the verbal skills to do so. What's important to remember is that not all crying is the same and that the tears that occur will most likely be due to frustration. With consistent, loving support your little one will learn that you are there to comfort him/her and the frustration will subside. By being there and offering support and reassurance, your little one is able to learn how to fall asleep and stay asleep in a safe and secure way.
You can still breastfeed or bottle feed both during and after sleep coaching. I will work with you to create a customized sleep and feeding plan that is tailored to your family's needs.
Yes, if you want to room share with your child I will work with you to create a sleep plan that accommodates your preferences.
In general, the process can take anywhere from 3 nights to 3 weeks depending on your little one's age, personality, sleep challenge(s), your sleep goals, how gradually you want to go, etc. However, the keys to success are commitment and consistency. I can give you the ideal schedule, create the best possible plan, give you guidance and support, but ultimately it's up to you. The process does take effort. Please note that daytime sleep usually takes longer than nighttime sleep.
As an experienced Certified Gentle Sleep Coach I take the guesswork out of sleep and can help you tackle a wide range of pediatric sleep challenges such as frequent nighttime wake-ups, short naps, difficultly falling asleep, early morning wake-ups, bedtime battles, and more all while maintaining a secure attachment between parent(s) and child. Moreover, the educational information, advice, and encouragement is tailored to each family's particular situation. I will give you the tools and we will work together towards achieving your family's sleep goals.
